California and the Golden West
We are now back in the UK at least the sun is shining, nearly as warm as it was when we left LA. The last day (Wednesday) seen us heading to Hollywood, most of the group went off with Redline Walking Tours for an insight into the Hollywood "life", after lunch we travelled through Sunset Strip and Beverley Hills before arriving at the airport for the flight to London with Virgin. Alas it was time to say our farewells and hopefully take home some great memories of the 2, 493 miles that we travelled since arriving in LA on the 9th June, just a quick recap, San Diego and its old town, Phoenix and its heat, Sedona with its beautiful red stone rock formations, to the Grand Canyon and the memorable flight, to the glitz and glamour that is Las Vegas, through the desert to Calico the old silver mine town, and not forgetting the afternoon stop in Tehachapi, for that wonderful cream pie !!! next it was off to Yosemite to walk among those old sequoia, and marvel at the scenery and of course who could forget the great musical voices at our night of karaoke...... San Francisco was the next stop 2 nights, a drive over the Golden Gate,Fisherman's Wharf, a view from Twin Peaks, and at night a drive round to see all the lights ... down the coast to Monterey and Pacific Grove and Carmel, before driving the scenic Big Sur to Cambria, next day a stop for Danish pastries in Solvang, on the way to Santa Barbara and then the coast drive through Malibu and Santa Monica to Anaheim, finishing off with a day at Universal Studios, Hollywood and not forgetting the day, the night and that lovely tune from ..it's a small small world ..... all part of the Disney experience. I had a great time with a great bunch of people, can you all come back next week !!!, hope you all arrived home safely and enjoy your memories. Here is the group picture ..... need I say more, from me here in Stafford, a big thank you to you all, and good afternoon !!!!
Thanks for all the wonderful commentary (shame about the jokes) and your knowledge of all the American history and geography. You really made a good holiday great.
ReplyDeleteWe had a 'lovely cup of tea' and beans on toast for lunch, as soon as we got home, followed by an hour's kip and now the washing machine is on overtime... Hey Ho back to reality.
Thanks Richard and we hope to meet again.

Hi Richard - your second in command here.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great holiday we had, a fantastic group to spend our 25th wedding anniversary with. This is one of the best holidays that we have had, very tiring but the scenery and views of California were out of this world.
Yeah, I agreee with Mike and Sue, the jokes well Richard what can I say... lol.
Rob went straight back to work after being back in house for 10 minutes and I got down to doing many loads of washing.. All done now - have to look through the 1900 photos that I took.
Thanks everyone for your company, what a great laugh we all had, miss you all already.

We agree with all of the above and hope to use Titan again. We have trundled through 400 pics with various friends and family only one fell asleep, (after 3 pints and a curry though).
